DDB Group Singapore pioneers design thinking programme
DDB Group Singapore has joined hands with Nanyang Polytechnic to create a year-long prototype programme that pioneers design education thought and practice leadership. The programme follows the DEAC’s calls for a ‘future design school’, where design thinking is made accessible and part of everyday learning from primary to higher education level.
Created in 2020, the Design Education Advisory Committee (DEAC) was established by the DesignSingapore Council and appointed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry as the first national platform for design education. Comprising leaders from the institutes of higher learning, the design industry, and the non-design sector, as well as policymakers from government agencies, the committee aims to shape the quality of design education and embed design into the nation’s education system.
Designed to bridge education and industry, the ‘Seamless Career Pathway’ programme has already completed two editions, and a third batch is currently underway at DDB Group Singapore.
“It has become clearer than ever to me the crucial role of design if we as humans are to remain central in this potentially globally transformative ‘intelligence revolution’. The creative skills and problem-solving capabilities design offers are unquestionably essential for navigating the many complex and interconnected challenges the world faces today,” said Low Cheaw Hwei, DEAC Chairman.
